Skeg and Rudder ready for paint!

After sanding the new fiberglass, the skeg and rudder were ready for the barrier coat. Barrier coating is an epoxy used to prevent water from entering the fiberglass. Thanks to help from Ed we were able to complete adding two coats today. That is the minimum recommended but I am applying a hard epoxy bottom paint so that will also provide a barrier. Next is lite sanding, taping and bottom paint. The biggest problem area will be the propeller that is currently home to a few oysters. Pictures below show the skeg rudder.

  • WOW! You’ve accomplished alot Greg!!! You sure know your Boat stuff……I never realized how complex caring for a sailboat was. I’m getting an education here!
Now to rehome the Oysters! 😉
