Well that was fun…

We woke up to substantial wind and waves. This dock is not well protected from the North. Not to big of a deal except the dinghy was down with the outboard on it. This jerking of the dinghy sitting in the waves was going to rip the back rail off so it had to come out (normal position is lifted on davits on the stern of the boat). Two boat neighbors lent a hand, thank goodness. We were able to get the motor off and on the rail and the dinghy hoisted when we noticed the clevis pin was missing on the starboard davit (holds the dinghy up). A bolt was put as a temporary fix. Bought 2 heavy duty snubbers for the bow (front) lines to absorb the shock load of the waves. They help a lot. This was an exciting way to start your day. I am tired up since 4:30. I am looking at reinforcing the back rail. More on that later. Cruising life is not boring even at the dock…
